Launched together by Falling Walls Female Science Talents and the Elsevier Foundation, the Women Breakthrough Award distinguishes three women, scientists, each year who conduct visionary research while also engaging with issues of gender equity and equality in science.
With the Women Breakthrough Award, Falling Walls looks for women from science, who are conducting a research project in one of the fields related to the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). They seek exceptional talents who conduct interdisciplinary, groundbreaking research in their field and contribute to gender equality and diversity in science and academia.
The Women Breakthrough Award consists of the three categories “Innovation”, “Gender Mainstreaming” and “Empowerment”, and each award comes with 3000 EUR prize money. The three Breakthrough Winners will be selected by a distinguished Jury and invited to take part in an in-person Award Ceremony in Berlin on 7 November 2023 as part of the Falling Walls Science Summit from 7-9 November 2023.
