Tenure-Track Professor for Philosophy of Machine Learning for Science

The Department of Philosophy at the University of Tübingen is inviting applications for a Tenure-Track Professorship in Philosophy of Machine Learning for Science.

This position is embedded within the University’s Cluster of Excellence, “Machine Learning: New Perspectives for Science,” and seeks a scholar whose work bridges philosophy with machine learning and artificial intelligence. Areas of interest include, but are not limited to:

• Ethics of machine learning and artificial intelligence
• Theory of science for machine learning and AI
• Epistemology, philosophy of mind, political philosophy, or action theory with strong connections to AI and machine learning

The successful candidate will contribute to interdisciplinary research, collaborate with the machine learning community in Tübingen, and teach within the Department of Philosophy and, where appropriate, the international MSc in Machine Learning.
